I went to see Walk The Line today at the moovies, it was fantastic! I thought the actors who played Johnny Cash and June Karter were fantastic, and he really did make a passable attempt at that wonderful cash singing style. The story of Cash and karter is a very real and beautiful one and i think the film tells it well. I've been a Johnny Cash fan for a long time now though, since i was about 14 or so. I love his songs and what he stood for. I think the fact that he walked all the way to the Karters family home to prepose to June Karter was very sweet. And the fact that their love was so deep was proven by the fact that they died within four months of each other. I just think that's beautiful. I actually cried when i heard the news that he died, his music meant a lot to me.
The scenes showing his early life and the loss of his brother were very moving and the way his father treated him shocked me. also the way June Karter was treated by the woman in the store made me mad...saying that she was surprised her parents still talked to her.
My favourite scene was where johnny was talking to his producers about the concert he was going to perform at Folsum Prison.
His producer says "Johnny, your fans are all church goers, they're christians, they don't want to hear you playing for a bunch of murderers and rapests in prison!"
To wich Johnny Cash says, "then, they're not christians."
That, to me, was what he stood for as a song writer and a person.
Has anyone else seen it yet?

Just watched it last night. It was excellent! They both did a great job, though I can completely see why Reece won the Oscar. Does anyone know if he won any awards? I highly recommend it. I wouldn't say I'm a huge Johnny and June fan, but the story was well told and I learned far more than I knew. That was sad about his early years. I also agree about the depth of their love -- 4 months...sheesh.

I loved the movie and agree with everything that's been posted in this topic.

While the movie was good, it reminded me to much of ray. The story line was somewhat similar, and I left the theater feeling less than pleased that I'd paid nine dollars a ticket.

well, i think it was really made for Cash fans, and there's lots of them, it was great, and it's such a realistic love story.
